The MCW Libraries’ subscription to Current Protocols, a database of laboratory step-by-step procedures and techniques, was not renewed. This decision was made in consultation with the Faculty Library Committee and is due to decreased use, high cost per use, and availability of other subscriptions via the library including Springer Protocols, Nature Protocols, Nature Methods, Methods in Enzymology, and JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments).
The Current Protocols subscription ended on 12/31/16.
Perpetual access is available to content published through 2016 for the following eleven titles:
Bioinformatics, Cell Biology, Human Genetics, Immunology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Protein Science, Stem Cell Biology, Toxicology
Three titles were either cancelled previously due to low use or ceased updating. The perpetual access terms are:
Cytometry (access through January 2008)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (non-updating since January 2008)
Nucleic Acid Chemistry (access through 2010)
