To further promote and preserve the intellectual contributions of its degree recipients, the Medical College of Wisconsin is partnering with ProQuest to disseminate its emerging scholarship through the ProQuest Dissertation & Theses Global database and the Web of Science, which reach thousands of institutions and millions of researchers worldwide. ProQuest also partners with major search and discipline-specific indexes for additional amplification and provides all these services free of charge. By distributing your work with ProQuest, you will increase its visibility and impact within the global research community. ProQuest recognizes the critical importance of embargos and will never publish a thesis until it has been released for dissemination by the university. You may withdraw your work from distribution at any time. You are eligible for a 10% royalty based upon sales and usage of the full text of the work.

Publishing of MCW dissertations and theses is at no cost to the student when selecting traditional publishing.
There is cost to optional additions such as having ProQuest file for copyright on your behalf, Open Access Publishing, and ordering bound copies of your work.

Bound Copies

Purchase a Bound Copy

Effective October 1, 2024, all Graduate School graduates will receive one free bound (8 ½ x 11 hardcover, double sided, color) copy of their dissertation or thesis. This will appear as a University Copy in your ProQuest account. The Graduate School will contact the graduate 3-4 months after the dissertation or thesis ProQuest online submission to coordinate pick-up of the one free bound copy or receive at spring graduation events.
Students have the option to purchase additional bound copies of their thesis or dissertation through ProQuest with their submission to be shipped directly to them separately from the one free University Copy.
After the thesis or dissertation is published in ProQuest, departments, faculty, family, etc. can order bound copies from ProQuest online here.
While we use ProQuest for publishing, bound copies are not required to be purchased through ProQuest. Bound copies can be purchased through any bindery. One we have worked with in the past is Grimm.
