Liaison Service: Home

Find out how your liaison librarian can help you with teaching, patient care and research

Overview

The primary purpose of our Liaison Program is to improve our understanding of individual departments and centers’ information needs by building collaborative relationships and increase awareness about resources and services provided by MCW Libraries. Liaison librarians serve as a bridge between the library and the department.  They provide support for teaching, patient care, and research and publication.

What can my liaison librarian do for me?

  • Assess your department’s or center’s information needs based on areas of research interest, practice, teaching or service to the community
  • Develop a customized webpage of curated library resources (see example: Orthopaedic Surgery: Library Resources)
  • Tailor library news items for internal distribution
  • Gather feedback on the relevance of current resources and services
  • Send alerts about new library services, programs and tools
  • Point of contact for:
    • literature searches
    • customized group or one-on-one instruction on library resources
    • reference questions
    • funding search services
    • assistance with systematic reviews
    • citation support
    • information on where to publish
