Please Note: Froedtert Health has implemented a new security protocol which has resulted in the degradation of on-campus access to MCW Libraries' electronic resources. Users on the Froedtert network must sign in via OpenAthens when attempting to access electronic library resources (including UpToDate, VisualDx, etc.). This form is for Children's, Froedtert Health and Wisconsin Diagnostic Laboratories Staff, or volunteer clinical faculty, adjunct faculty, emeritus faculty, and students in joint degree programs.
After verification of your status is received, you will receive an email with instructions on how to set up your OpenAthens account.
While using an MCW, Froedtert Staff or CW Staff network to access the internet, connecting to MCW Libraries subscription resources like databases and journals is seamless. The resources recognize that you are on MCW computer's network and grants you access to the sites.
If you are not on an MCW, Froedtert of Children's staff network, you can get access to library resources through OpenAthens.
If you are not on a campus network and you click a link to a subscription resource on the MCW Libraries' website, you may be asked to login to OpenAthens. This ensures that only those who are affiliated with MCW, Children's Wisconsin or Froedtert can get access to the resources that we subscribe to.
Logging in is easy! If you have an MCW account, choose the first option and sign into Duo. If you are staff at Children's Wisconsin or Froedtert, a volunteer or adjunct faculty, or you have a library account, use the second option and login with your OpenAthens account.
MCW IS installs Always-On VPN on MCW owned and managed software. Even if you are off-campus and have the VPN running, you still need to log into OpenAthens to access our subscription resources. You will be prompted to login to OpenAthens when you click on links to subscription resources on the MCW Libraries webpages.
