Please Note: Froedtert Health has implemented a new security protocol which has resulted in the degradation of on-campus access to MCW Libraries' electronic resources. Users on the Froedtert network must sign in via OpenAthens when attempting to access electronic library resources (including UpToDate, VisualDx, etc.). MCW Libraries is aware of this change and is working to provide a permanent access solution. If you have MCW credentials, please sign in via MCW employees and students when prompted. If you are a Froedtert employee, click here to register for an OpenAthens account or view more information.

OpenAthens: Troubleshooting

Learn how to create persistent and proxied links to our resources to ensure that library users have access to our books, chapters and articles from anywhere.

Access Through Your Institution

If you are browsing resources in your internet browser, you can access full text materials provided by MCW Libraries by looking for the Access Through Your Institution box, places to Sign in for Institutional Access, or Sign in via OpenAthens.

Then search for and select Medical College of Wisconsin. This will prompt you to login with your OpenAthens account.

McGraw Hill Resources Access

If, after signing into OpenAthens either here or by utilizing Athenized links on the MCW Libraries homepage, you are still having access issues with McGraw Hill resources (AccessMedicine, Case Files Collection, etc.):

There are a few ways to troubleshoot signing in with your OpenAthens credentials to McGraw Hill resources.

1. Click "Sign In" on the top right of the screen, then select "Sign in via OpenAthens." Signing in with your MyAccess account does not guarantee access via Medical College of Wisconsin Libraries.

-OR-

Zotero Proxy Redirect

If you had used Zotero to redirect links through the proxy server, you may see a banner message like this at the top of your screen:

Zotero Proxy Redirector

To disable this, click on "Proxy settings" and skip to step 4, or:

  1. Click the "Extensions" icon in the Chrome browser.
  2. Click the three dots to the left of Zotero Connector.
  3. Select Options.
