Get It From MCW Libraries in Google Scholar

Set up the "Get It From MCW Libraries" links in Google Scholar to get easier access to subscription articles. Clicking the Get It links will either take you to the full text of the article, or it will take you to a webpage where you can "request access" to the article. 

Note: If you are off-campus, you will be prompted to login to OpenAthens. 

Go straight to Google Scholar settings and search/select Medical College of Wisconsin and click Save, or follow the steps below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to scholar.google.com in your web browser. 
  2. Click on the three bars at the top-left of the screen.
  3. Click "Settings" in the drop-down menu.
  4. In the settings menu, click "Library Links."
  5. Search for Medical College of Wisconsin.
  6. Select the box next to "Medical College of Wisconsin - Get It From MCW Libraries" option. 
  7. Click Save.

Accessing Subscription Content with the Get It Links

After setting up library links, you will see "Get It From MCW Libraries" links next to most articles in Google Scholar.  Links will either appear to the right of a citation, or underneath the citation after clicking the >> symbol.

These links will take you to the full text of an article if MCW Libraries has a subscription, or it will take you to a webpage where you can request a copy of the item through our interlibrary loan/request materials service. 

If you are off-campus, you may be prompted to log into OpenAthens before you are connected to the subscription article.
